About the role
Moneythink has an exciting opportunity for a Content Manager to generate and implement compelling content ideas that align with Moneythink’s marketing vision and strategy, raise brand awareness, and ensure brand continuity for our audiences.
This is a varied role contributing to numerous marketing and communications functions. The Content Manager will serve as a champion for content within Moneythink while contributing to a dedicated, inclusive company culture. This position will report to the Director of Marketing and will work closely with our Graphic Designer and marketing contractors as well as cross functionally across the entire organization.

Key Responsibilities
While this role will be heavily influential and interact with all parts of our organization, we’ve identified these main priority areas:
Create clear, compelling, and informative content
Moneythink publishes a wide variety of content related to our marketing and communications efforts. You’ll be responsible for creating and editing content for channels such as social media (e.g. posts for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok), websites, reports, product guides, advertisements, user interfaces, fundraising, presentations, and more.
Manage cross-functional collaboration across teams
You’ll manage cross-functional collaboration and copy generation with our product, partnerships, fundraising, and marketing teams. In partnership with our Graphic Designer, Marketing Director, interns, and consultants, you’ll help us scale our content production efforts and create a wide range of assets.
Build and maintain editorial process
You will support our growing team in creating processes to gather, produce, edit, and publish content in an organized and replicable manner. This will include developing and maintaining a content calendar and editorial guidelines as well as building out story banks and content libraries.

Employment: 100%
Location: Remote-first
We are a remote-first organization with team members contributing from California, Michigan, Massachusetts, Georgia, Minnesota, Florida, and Mississippi.
Those in the San Francisco Bay Area, where we are headquartered, also have the option to meet regularly at co-working spaces in San Francisco or Oakland. We are open to US-based remote candidates with the ability to travel twice per year for company on-sites. This style of working allows us to take advantage of the benefits of in-person time together while preserving the flexibility and freedom of working from home.
Salary: Compensation is commensurate with experience. The target starting salary range for this role is $65-75k annually. Moneythink offers a very competitive compensation package.
Target Start Date: Flexible; ideally early January.

Phone Screening
Qualified candidates will be invited to schedule a 20-30 minute phone call with the hiring manager.
Functional Deep Dive Interview
This interview is with the hiring manager, and two members of our product and partnerships teams. The goal is to assess candidates’ experience within the functional areas.
This is a 60 minute interview.
Work Samples and Panel Interview
Candidates will be invited to share samples of their past work prior to the meeting. During the interview, they will have an opportunity to talk through their creative process and provide context and detail around the samples provided.
The panel interviewers are selected by the hiring manager. It typically includes marketing team members and 2-3 employees from other departments. The goal is to get a sense for candidates’ thinking process, communication skills, and overall team fit.
This is a 2 hour interview with the following format:
-Opportunity to discuss past work samples
-General discussion questions from the panel members
-Social “coffee chat” with the Moneythink team
-Hiring manager 1-1
Offer
The hiring manager will further discuss and answer any questions about the position with the finalist and extend a verbal offer. The recruiter will follow up with a letter for signature.

Knowledge, Approach and Know-how:

You’re detail oriented. You’re detail oriented. You have an eye for editing and taking content from good to great. You catch the things others may miss and are confident adding the final polish on materials before they’re sent out.
You’re creative. You like coming up with new ways of saying things or novel approaches to using communications platforms. You have an eye for how the graphic and written elements of a message work together and love to work with other creatives to create stellar content.
You’re self-driven. You can take an idea from conception to publication, checking in as needed along the way. You’re comfortable asking for help when you need it and driving things forward once the vision is clear. You can balance multiple projects and manage your time around competing priorities.
Desired Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in communications, writing, journalism, or marketing; or comparable industry experience
-1-2 years+ experience in a content creation, copywriting, or marketing role
-Track record of creating engaging, original content
-Excellent copywriting and copyediting skills; extremely detail-oriented
-Understanding of how to target content for varying audiences (eg, students, parents, advisors, organizations) and varying social media channels (eg, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok)
-Experience with social media engagement strategies and best practices
-Highly developed organizational skills with an eye for process
-Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team
-Strong communication skills around work, process, and decisions
-Experience and knowledge of college access and education systems is a huge plus
